New Radiology Facility now in Operation

Dr. Jason Belizaire confirmed on Tuesday that his new fully equipped private Radiology facility located at Woods Centre on Friar’s Hill Road, is now opened to the public, offering highly sought-after radiology services.

This development is a timely and much needed boost for the islands’ health sector as it offers an alternative to the only other existing radiology department at the hospital.

Some highlights of the facility include high-tech digital equipment, and a modern and comfortable set-up to include a waiting area that can accommodate up to sixteen (16) people.

The new equipment includes a much-needed mammogram machine which will help in the early detection of breast tissue abnormalities. This is one of three mammogram machines on island and will be extremely helpful in managing the breast cancer mortality rate in Antigua and Barbuda.

Other machines include a Computerized Tomography Scan machine, an X-Ray system with a digital reader and wireless system and a digital Ultrasound System.

Dr.  Belizaire expressed his gratitude to several individuals who assisted with the successful completion of the project, stating “I would like to thank the Prime Minister, the Honorable Gaston Browne, the Attorney General, the Honorable Steadroy ‘Cutie’ Benjamin and the Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda for granting me duty-free concessions to build and equip this facility, that benefits not only my patients but, the people of Antigua and Barbuda as a whole.”

He further stated that he will be keeping close tabs on developments in radiology in the future in order to ensure that Woods Radiology continues to provide professional and satisfactory services to the people of Antigua and Barbuda.

Opening hours for Woods Radiology are: Mondays to Fridays, from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
