Empowering the Future: ABHTA Hosts Job Fair for Young Hospitality Professionals

The Antigua & Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association (ABHTA) celebrated a successful Hospitality Job Fair on World Tourism Day 2024, themed around fostering peace and prosperity through tourism. The event attracted over 600 enthusiastic job seekers eager to connect with 28 leading employers in the hospitality sector.

World Tourism Day highlights the vital role of tourism in economic development and peace through job creation. In Antigua and Barbuda, where tourism is the primary economic driver, the ABHTA remains dedicated to providing opportunities for aspiring hospitality professionals.

Craig Marshall, Chairman of the ABHTA, expressed his delight at the impressive turnout, particularly noting the professionalism of young job seekers. “It’s heartening to see so many young people, some as young as 19, well-prepared and eager to discuss their futures in hospitality,” he stated.

In addition to job opportunities, attendees could engage with representatives from the Antigua and Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute (ABHTI) and the University of the West Indies (UWI) Five Islands Campus, exploring educational paths that complement their career goals.

Employers were equally impressed by the enthusiasm and preparedness of the participants, recognizing the potential for this generation to make a significant impact in the industry.

The ABHTA expressed gratitude to its members and partner institutions for supporting this initiative and remains committed to nurturing young talent in Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism sector. The Association is dedicated to enhancing the island’s tourism industry and fostering a skilled workforce that will drive future growth.
