5000 Homes for vulnerable in Dominica

The Government of Dominica is optimistic about building approximately five thousand homes which is geared at vulnerable people on the island.

The homes are said to be modern, affordable, sustainable, and resilient homes and is expected to be completed within five year period and arefor the vulnerable and socio-economically disadvantaged people across Dominica.

Minister for Housing, Reginald Austrie said he is satisfied with the works done thus far and is confident that the Dominica Labor Party willachieve the 5,000 mark before the designated 5- years.

The housing Minister added that more homes are on schedule for several communities across the island and opportunity is even extended for public officers.

He went on to say, that the Government has scheduled another 16 for Pointe Mitchel, 16 for Eggleston, 16 for Woodford Hill, 16 for CanefieldEast, and Scottshead one or two.

Speaking on the homes scheduled to be built for public officers the housing Minister the intention is probably to stretch it across other locations in the country.

We are well on our way to achieving this milestone probably even before the 5-years that we set on ourselves to do it, we’re moving full speed ahead, Austrie added.
