Religious Leaders calls on the Government of Dominica to review its decision

Some religious leaders in Dominica are calling on the government to review its decision to allow no more than 10 persons at religious places of worship and to facilitate the conducting of services by electronic or virtual means.

This measure is part of the new Environmental Health Services COVID-19 Regulations which are being implemented to deal with the management of COVID-19 on the island.

The new regulations came to an end on Monday, August 23.

Minister for National Security and Home Affairs, Rayburn Blackmoore revealed that in addition to regular church gatherings, weddings and funerals would also be limited to ten people.

However, Vicar General of the Catholic Church in Dominica, Monsignor William Jno Lewis believes that the government’s decision should be reviewed and revealed that the Bishop had written a letter to the authorities expressing their desire for the review.
