Pre Event COVID 19 testing: possible regulation for Fete attendees

Persons attending the first major entertainment event since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic may be subjected to Covid-19 testing days later.

The first fete is scheduled for mid-July and according to Information Minister Melford Nicholas, there is talk that health officials would want to test the effectiveness of the implemented protocols.

Such measures have taken place in a few major countries like the UK and Spain.

“The Minister of Health did indicate that he wanted to replicate the regime that they have put in place in those two countrywide,” Minister of Information, Melford Nicholas said.

“After the event, we would certainly want to look at the efficacy of the regime to ensure that notwithstanding that all the persons who attended and have this event that we would look at testing to see if there were any transmissions of the virus at that particular environment, such that when we have to contemplate a larger event we will have a few ideas of what to expect,” Minister Nicholas added.

Only fully vaccinated patrons will be permitted to attend the event.
