The Government put on Notice by MSJMC workers

The Government has been put on notice that in the event there is a future delay in risk allowance back pay to hospital employees, there will be industrial action.

On April 19, several workers protested for money owed to them by the government to the tune of 3.7 million dollars.

President of the Antigua and Barbuda Public Service Association, Ms Joan Peters sharing on a Radio Programme stated that since then a quarter of a million dollars has been paid.

“They gave us an undertaking that they will give two hundred and fifty thousand dollars a month this time around to pay and as far as I understand the first payment is in the hands of Mount Saint John’s. Because they said they would have started at the end of April and from under the great vine I understand that they have already received the first cheque.”

“The workers let me know in no uncertain terms when we met to finalize everything and send them back to work, that any time the money stop coming they will stop working too,” Ms Peters expressed.

With the latest payment, the government would have paid just over two million dollars in risk allowance back pay to hospital employees
