Flood Warning Now in Place for Antigua and Barbuda

FLASH FLOOD WARNING

ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES

Issued: 2:30 PM ECT, Thursday, September 26, 2024

A Flash Flood Warning is now in effect for flood-prone areas of Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts, and Nevis until 8 PM tonight. This warning indicates that moderate to major flooding is occurring or imminent in the affected areas, creating a very dangerous situation.

An active tropical wave over the Leeward Islands is causing heavy showers. Up to 1 inch of rain has already fallen in some areas within the last three hours, with another 3 inches or more expected in the next five hours. As a result, moderate to major flooding of low-lying and flood-prone areas is anticipated.

The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services will continue to monitor the weather situation. Please stay tuned to local radio or television for updates on warnings.
