Cabinet Announces Plans to Host ‘Scaled-down’ Carnival

The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda has announced plans to host Carnival in the twin island state this year, but with less events than usual.

The decision is, of course, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which continues to ravage the world with no end in sight.

According to the Minister of Creative Industries, Hon. Michael Browne there will be no super-spreader events and T-Shirt mas and City Blocks will be filled with Cultural Exhibits.

Additionally, the Cabinet has agreed to assist Calypsonians, Soca Artistes and others who require the need of a studio, in order to advance their cultural art form.

An arrangement is to be made with the owners of recording studios to reduce cost of electricity, with the assurance that they pass on to the artistes the savings in electricity that will be realized by them.
