Union strenghtens its representation with the employment of Josiah and Edghill

The Antigua & Barbuda Workers Union welcomes two new officers to its team. They are Mr. Harry Josiah and Mr. R. Anderson Edghill.

Mr. Josiah brings five decades of experience in various fields including human resource management, industrial relations, business administration as well as sales and marketing.

Josiah shares a prior working relationship with the Antigua & Barbuda Workers Union. Between 1973 and 1984 he served as Second Vice President and Industrial Relations Officer. His most extensive experience in management took place at the Antigua & Barbuda Transport Board where he held the positions of Deputy General Manager and General Manager between 1999 and 2017.

His professional experience also includes working with Coca Cola International where he acquired training and certification in servicing ‘high-end’ clients.

Josiah will leverage his unique expertise towards developing a unit specialized in providing representation for Management and Middle Management along with Confidential Employees. This new endeavor forms part of the Union’s commitment to remain innovative and responsive to the needs of an evolving workforce.

Josiah describes the ABWU as a “progressive, forward thinking organization.” He adds that “Coming home again is giving me an opportunity to share my experience in assisting the Union to continue its forward march in giving quality representation to all levels of our workforce.”

Josiah hopes to “examine and bring into being new opportunities in building partnerships through cooperatives and other such ventures, where membership in the union will have its privilege in earning and spending.”

R. Anderson Edghill, on the other hand, takes up the position of Public Relations, Marketing and Social Media Officer.

He brings a comprehensive range of communication skills, having worked in the media for over 15 years. During this period, he excelled as a news presenter, journalist, television host and producer.

Mr. Edghill has produced dozens of news stories, features and documentaries on various issues ranging from government and politics to the environment and culture. He has also acted as Head of News and Current Affairs at ABS Television and last served as Manager of Television Production.

Mr. Edghill has completed several courses in communications and media, including training in the People’s Republic of China. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Film Production from the University of the West Indies, St Augustine.

“I am honored to join the team at the ABWU and I look forward to growing in this new capacity. I regard this institution as a leader in advocating for, and defending the rights and interests of workers all across Antigua and Barbuda.” Edghill said.

The Antigua & Barbuda Workers Union is proud to add both gentlemen to its team and wish them success as the Union positions itself to better serve its membership.
