Government Will Commit to Decision to Remove Curfew

Prime Minister Gaston Browne said in a statement Saturday that the government will stay true to its decision to lift the state of emergency before the end of the year.

Speaking on a radio show, he mentioned that so far, the Omicron variant seems to be milder than the Delta Variant, therefore the curfew and state of emergency will be removed unless the data for Omicron suggests differently over the next few weeks.

The Prime Minister continues to urge citizens to receive their COVID-19 vaccination in order to lessen their chances of contracting the virus and becoming seriously ill with it.

He also encouraged all the elderly and immunocompromised to get their booster shots.

The booster shot rollout began last week and saw frontline workers, and members of parliament receive their dose.
