A Christmas Miracle? Little Creek Bridge is Now Fully Operational

Some great news today as officials have declared Little Creek Bridge open to motorists after 13 months of being under construction and relieving the stresses of utilizing the dusty temporary bypass for the past year.

On Monday, the bridge- which links the South-West villages to St. Johns- was officially opened to the public. Ministry of Works Minister Lennox Weston expressed his gratitude to residents for their patience and understanding.

“We were very mindful of the location, and the discomfort caused for people. We are happy that we could reopen it for Christmas,” he said in a statement. The new bridge is one of the first in the country built to new climate change resilient specifications.

In November of 2020 heavy rains caused widespread destruction to highway infrastructure across Antigua leaving about EC$160 million in damages.

There are more developments to come including the Crabbe Hill road which is set to be complete by early 2022.
