PM Browne analyzing Stem Cell for possible COVID treatment

The government of Antigua & Barbuda is looking into stem cell treatment as a way to cure COVID-19 patients.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne stated that his administration has learned of a person being treated for the illness in another nation who is doing well and that he believes stem cells are to blame.

He said that the administration needs more proof before making a final determination.“We have asked Dr Joseph John who recently launched a multi-million dollar private medical complex in the Caribbean nation to import some stem cells and to have them in stock for us to use stem cells as a possible treatment.”

Dr John had been requested to join the Technical Working Committee so that he and others could share information and assess the treatment’s success, he said.

“As you would know we would have established the legal and regulatory framework here in Antigua and Barbuda for the use of stem cells. In fact, we have set a vision of making Antigua and Barbuda the stem cells capital of the world,” Browne explained.
