Larceny charge against the officer during XPZ fire withdrawn

At the request of one of the proprietors of the XPZ store, the larceny charge against fire officer Glenroy Weekes was withdrawn.

The case involving firearms and ammunition, for which he was also accused, will be heard next year.

A senior police officer was detained and charged with theft after reportedly stealing a considerable quantity of money from the XPZ supermarket while it was being devastated by fire in early June.

He was also charged with illegally possessing a handgun and ammo, both of which were discovered during a search of his residence.
