Mark Zuckerberg has apologized for the six-hour social media outage

Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Facebook, has apologized for the “disruption” his company’s social media services caused after they went down for over six hours, affecting more than 3.5 billion users across the world.

After an internal technical issue brought Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp, and Instagram offline at around 16:00 GMT on Monday, the billionaire apologized. At approximately 22:00, the race to get it back up was finally successful.

However, it is expected to raise scrutiny of Facebook’s reach. During the hours, billions of users were unable to talk to friends via social media. Others reported being unable to use services that required the platforms.

Companies using social media to interact with clients around the world have been struck with unanticipated potential debt. According to the tracking software of the business website Fortune, Zuckerberg’s fortune was assumed to have dropped by $6 billion.
