Covid-19 death toll rises in Antigua and Barbuda

Antigua and Barbuda have recorded yet its first wave of Covid-19 deaths since the start of the pandemic. 

Sadly, three (3) female patients, ages 97, 78 and 80, have passed away at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre on September 13, at 1:30 pm (97) and, 4:45 pm (78) respectively and on September 11 at 7 pm (80). All three patients tested positive for COVID-19.  

A male patient, age 49, also passed away on September 14  at 12:20 am. He had tested positive for COVID-19. 

On September 13 , at 1:25 pm a female patient age, 25 died. She too tested positive for COVID-19.   

“Our thoughts and condolences remain with their families and loved ones at this difficult time.” 

Important safety measures that have been scientifically proven to reduce the spread of COVID-19, includes:

▪️Wearing a mask

▪️Practising social distancing

▪️Avoiding large gatherings 

We encourage all eligible residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine and encourage eligible family members and friends to join them in getting the vaccine.
