Upgraded Water-meters to be installed

The Antigua Public Utilities Authority APUA will soon be installing intelligent top-up water meters that will cater to customers who may wish to limit their household expenditure on water.

When the value of the amount has been consumed, the meter will shut off supply until an additional amount is purchased.

This system is already in place in a few Caribbean islands.

Meanwhile, several broken cast-iron pipes that have been causing severe leakage in Ottos and Point will be replaced, according to the Water manager at APUA.

This will involve inconvenience to motorists since the surfaces of roads will have to be removed to access the buried broken pipes.

APUA says the resources for completing this exercise have already been secured.
