Power outage affects operations in St. John’s City

A power outage earlier today has forced several businesses in and around St. Johns City to be sidelined for over an hour.

Complaints and frustration flooded shared on the popular social media site Facebook directed at the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) for this occurrence.

APUA responded to those complaints briefly in a post saying ‘we are aware of a system power outage; our technicians are already assessing the issue and will begin restoration once it is safe. APUA Electricity Business Unit apologizes for any inconvenience caused.

The outage has also affected operations at the Water department for the lone utilities company on the island.

According to APUA, ‘operations have been temporarily halted at our Water Pumping Stations until electricity is safely restored’.

They did however mention that they are working feverishly to resolve these issues.
