Sometime next year, murder accused Nathaniel David Simons will appear before a High Court Judge for allegedly murdering Phillip Luggs of Potters.
Simons, who is also a Potters resident appeared before Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh this morning in the St. John’s Magistrates’ Court for his committal hearing.
The prosecution submitted seven pieces of evidence that will be used in the barber’s trial.
The Magistrate then sent the matter up the High Court to be heard in the January assizes. Simons is accused of killing 28-year-old Lugg in June in an altercation in Potters.
Luggs was fatally stabbed in what was allegedly a dispute between him and Simons who is reportedly related to.
According to an eyewitness, Lugg’s lifeless body laid on the roadside of Potters with blood oozing from his mouth and nose. He also had visible stab wounds to different parts of his body.
And despite heart compressions performed by a technician from the Emergency Medical Services, the young Potters man was pronounced dead by a doctor at Mount St. John Medical Center on June 7.
