Hugh Marshall Sr. to receive Queen’s New Years Honour

Hugh Marshall Sr. is one of two Antiguans listed in the Queen’s New Year Honours List, 2021 that was released on Wednesday evening. Marshall Sr. has been made Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).

The other recipient is John Michael Petrie. Both men will receive their respective Honour for their services to Antigua and Barbuda. 

 CBE is the highest ranking Order of the British Empire Award.

Hugh Marshall Sr. served as a Member of Parliament for the constituency of St. Mary’s South for the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party from 1980 to 1994 and served as Minister of Trade and Economic Development. Marshall Sr. was defeated by now retired Parliamentarian, Hilson Baptise.

His daughter Samantha Marshall currently serves as M.P for the same constituency having defeated Baptise in the 2014 General Election and Cortwright Marshall in 2018 General Election.

Up until 2017, Mr. Marshall served as chairman for the now defunct Lee Wind Paints.
