Commuting between Stadium and Parham Corner will be challenge during Christmas Season and up to year-end

Commuters travelling into town from the eastern section of the island, as far as Willikies, during one of the busiest seasons of the year will continue to be inconvenienced.  This is because the full road closure between the North Sound Roundabout and Parham Corner will be in place until year-end.

Officials from the Ministry of Works say that a traffic-management plan will be in effect during this period, with diversions from the North Sound Roundabout to Parham Corner.

They explain that this closure is to facilitate work being done at that section of the Sir Sidney Walling Highway.

Commuters will have to brave a bottleneck of traffic as “the contractor intends to implement single-lane traffic from Parham Corner to the Jonas Road roundabout.”

Accordingly, there will be traffic-light controls on hand to direct the flow of vehicles through the area.

Meanwhile, officials say that single-lane traffic will be implemented through Pares Village and controlled by flag persons during this period.

This is to facilitate work being done on the shoulders of the road, as well as Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) telecoms work.
