Jamal Bowen was handed concurrent sentences totalling $7,400 in fines and a three-month driving license suspension following his conviction on drug possession and dangerous driving charges.
The court imposed a $6,800 fine for possession of 209 grams of cannabis with intent to transfer, giving Bowen 12 months to pay or face one year in prison.
He received an additional $600 fine for dangerous driving, which must be paid within seven days or result in 30 days imprisonment and the license suspension.
Bowen was also reprimanded and discharged on a separate cannabis possession charge.
The charges stemmed from a police traffic stop where officers discovered drugs in the vehicle Bowen was driving. The case also involved co-defendant Gibbons, who faced charges including possession with intent to supply and providing false identification to police officers.
The sentences were ordered to run concurrently, meaning Bowen will serve them simultaneously rather than consecutively.
