A local business owner has recognised the contribution of teachers and support staff at Bendals Primary School through a special presentation of handmade gifts.
Shanice Mulin, owner and chief executive officer of Shan and Mike Enterprise, presented members of the school’s staff with pencil-shaped key chains created by hand as a gesture of appreciation for their dedication to students and the wider school community.
Mulin explained that she believes individuals who contribute to shaping the next generation deserve recognition and appreciation for their efforts.
The handmade gifts were designed in the shape of pencils, representing education, learning and creativity.
The presentation reportedly came as a surprise to members of staff, who received the items as a personal expression of gratitude.
Mulin, who is also a parent, said she wanted teachers and other school employees to understand that their work and commitment are recognised and valued.
The gesture also comes as Bendals Primary School continues its recovery following a fire earlier this year that damaged parts of its administrative building, including the staffroom and principal’s office.
Despite the disruption, students and staff returned to classes.
The presentation highlights the contribution that parents and small businesses can make towards strengthening school communities and supporting educators.
It also serves as a reminder that community appreciation does not always require large financial contributions, as simple acts of kindness can have a meaningful impact.
