According to an air quality bulletin issued on November 3, increased concentrations of fine particulate matter, including PM2.5 and PM10, have contributed to the deterioration in air quality.

The conditions are expected to continue until Friday, November 6.

The Air Quality Index is forecast to range between 51 and 80. Although the conditions are generally considered acceptable for most residents, certain groups may experience greater sensitivity.

Those particularly vulnerable include children, older adults, people with asthma, individuals with other respiratory conditions and persons living with heart disease.

Residents who are especially sensitive to air pollution are being encouraged to reduce prolonged or strenuous outdoor activities while the dust remains in the atmosphere.

This latest episode represents the 34th notable Saharan dust surge recorded in Antigua and Barbuda during 2026.

Residents are encouraged to monitor official meteorological updates for further information.
