Trinidad and Tobago Defeat Grenada in Netball World Cup Qualifying Campaign

Trinidad and Tobago made a strong start to their campaign for a place at the 2027 Netball World Cup by defeating Grenada 61–45 in the opening round of the Americas qualifiers.

The match was played at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex as teams began competing for qualification to the international tournament.

Trinidad and Tobago established control early, building a substantial advantage in the opening quarter and maintaining their lead through the first half.

The Calypso Girls’ attacking efficiency helped them create separation on the scoreboard, putting Grenada under pressure to respond.

Samantha Wallace-Joseph contributed to the early momentum by converting 13 of her 14 attempts in the opening quarter. Her accuracy helped Trinidad and Tobago move ahead 20–7.

Grenada attempted to respond in the second half, showing greater determination as the match progressed. However, Trinidad and Tobago maintained enough control to secure a 16-goal victory.

The result gives Trinidad and Tobago an encouraging beginning to their qualification campaign, while Grenada will need to assess the performance and prepare for its remaining matches.

Qualifying tournaments provide teams with an opportunity to test their combinations, evaluate individual performances and build momentum before facing further competition.

For Grenada, the defeat does not by itself determine the outcome of the overall campaign. The team can still use its remaining fixtures to pursue qualification opportunities.

The match also highlights the competitive nature of Caribbean netball, where regional teams are seeking to strengthen their standing internationally.

With the 2027 World Cup approaching, every qualifying match provides important experience for players and coaching staff as they work toward securing a place at the tournament.
