Haiti continues to face a serious security crisis as gang violence places communities at risk and complicates efforts to restore stability.
A report cited by the Jamaica Observer indicated that at least 5,700 people had been killed or wounded in Haiti’s gang crisis during 2026 as of the report’s publication.
The violence has contributed to humanitarian difficulties and increased concerns about the protection of vulnerable residents.
Efforts to restore security remain closely connected to Haiti’s political transition and plans for democratic elections. Regional leaders have continued to express support for strengthening the country’s security institutions.
The crisis also presents challenges for neighbouring Caribbean countries, particularly in areas involving migration, humanitarian assistance and regional security.
International and regional cooperation will remain important as Haiti works towards greater stability.
