Police are investigating an overnight shooting at a Cashew Hill residence, where a female occupant reportedly heard several gunshots near the eastern section of her home shortly after midnight on Wednesday.
According to Observer Media, the incident occurred around 12:26 a.m. on September 23 at a property on Joseph Road, Cashew Hill.
The woman was inside the residence when she heard multiple shots coming from the eastern front section of the house. The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including whether the home was deliberately targeted, remain under investigation.
Several police divisions responded to the scene, including officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Special Service Unit (SSU), Liberta Police Station and St John’s Police Station.
Investigators reportedly recovered spent shells on the ground near the eastern front of the house, as well as inside the residence.
The shooting adds to a growing series of violent incidents under investigation by police this week.
On Monday night, a 20-year-old woman was killed in another shooting, while a 13-year-old boy and a 24-year-old man were also injured. Both survivors remain hospitalised.
Police have confirmed that inquiries into both incidents are ongoing. Two suspects have been detained in connection with Monday night’s shooting, while a third suspect is being sought.
Authorities have not disclosed whether the Cashew Hill shooting is connected to the earlier incident.
