The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has launched a Digital Transformation Strategy outlining plans to modernise public services and improve access to government information through 2030.

The initiative was developed in partnership with the United Nations Development System and brings together several organisations, including UNESCO, UNDP, UNICEF, PAHO, ITU and UN Women.

Information and Communication Technologies and Energy Minister Melford Nicholas formally committed to implementing the strategy by 2030 during the launch.

The plan includes a three-phase implementation roadmap built around 10 priority projects. Its objectives include improving digital government services, strengthening public access to information and supporting the country’s development into a more digitally modern and resilient state.

The launch also introduced a public-facing digital transformation webpage intended to help residents access clear and reliable information about government services and decisions.

Officials emphasised that successful digital transformation will require collaboration among government agencies, private businesses, educational institutions, civil society and citizens.

The strategy now moves into its implementation phase, with progress depending on how the proposed projects are carried out over the coming years.
