Employees of the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) have been instructed to return to work following a meeting between government officials, union representatives and APUA management after industrial action earlier in the day.
Public Utilities Minister Melford Nicholas convened the meeting with representatives of the Antigua Trades and Labour Union (AT&LU), including union executives and shop stewards, along with members of APUA’s executive management team to address concerns raised by workers.
The discussions were held in response to the industrial action taken by some employees who are covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement between APUA and the union.

According to APUA, the meeting allowed the parties to engage in what was described as a constructive and amicable exchange on the issues raised by employees. The discussions also provided an opportunity for both sides to clarify concerns and reaffirm their commitment to continued dialogue.
Following the talks, union members were asked to return to their respective duty stations and resume their normal work responsibilities.
Both sides have agreed to reconvene for a follow-up meeting on Wednesday, March 11, where efforts will continue to finalise terms relating to the matters raised during Monday’s meeting.
APUA says it remains committed to maintaining open communicationwith its employees and their representatives while ensuring the continued delivery of essential services to the people of Antigua and Barbuda.
