Former Governor General’s Home Broken Into

A home in English Harbour belonging to former governor general Dame Louise Lake Tack was broken into on Friday, September 27th—the second incident at the residence in recent weeks.

The intruders forced their way into the property between 8 a.m. and 8:45 p.m., using a hard object to pry open a basement door on the western side of the building. From the lower level, they removed several pieces of electrical wire before scaling an exterior railing to access the first floor.

Entering through an unlocked bedroom window on the northern side, the burglars searched through the home and made their way to the kitchen. There, they took paint brushes, roller pads, a bottle of dishwashing liquid, and more electrical wiring.

Police have not yet determined the total value of the stolen items. Investigations continue.
