Browne projects Antigua and Barbuda to rise in UN Human Development Index
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has predicted that Antigua and Barbuda will become one of the top two Caribbean nations on the United Nations Human Development Index (HDI)within the next three to five years.
Speaking on the Browne and Browne Show, Mr Browne said the country is currently ranked around 52nd globally, but is well-positioned for further progress.
“I can assure you that within the next three to five years, we’ll be on the 50 and would be easily maybe, if not the number one, number two country in the Caribbean in terms of development,” he told listeners.
Mr Browne said the projection reflects Antigua and Barbuda’s improving economic and social indicators, adding that he believes the nation is experiencing “its best days”.
