Police are investigating a report of sexual assault involving a tourist at a local hotel, according to official sources.
The complainant, a 26-year-old female, alleged she was sexually assaulted by a male hotel employee on the evening of July 28th, authorities said.
According to police sources, the victim and her 24-year-old female companion arrived in Antigua and Barbuda on July 27th and checked into their accommodation that same evening.
The incident allegedly occurred after the complainant and her friend were socializing in the resort’s bar area and engaged with several hotel employees, sources said.
Police reports indicate the victim told a male employee she was feeling unwell. The employee reportedly offered to escort her to her room, but instead he allegedly took her to a different room within the facility, where the alleged assault took place.
The matter was subsequently reported to police, who have launched an investigation into the allegations.
No arrest had been announced at the time of going to press and the investigation remains ongoing.
