seven-year-old child has died following a tragic road accident on Palm Well Drive on Sunday afternoon, according to a statement released by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF).
The incident occurred at approximately 1:01 pm when the young boy reportedly ran into the path of an oncoming vehicle.
The 43-year-old woman driving the vehicle stopped immediately at the scene and assisted before notifying the police.
The child’s parents transported him to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre, where he was assessed for injuries. Despite emergency efforts, the child was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital’s emergency room.
Authorities have not released the identity of the child as of Monday.
The RT&CIPF has extended its “sincerest condolences” to the grieving family and confirmed that the Traffic Enforcement Unit is actively investigating the incident to determine the exact circumstances.
