Navigators, Ovals triumphant in Division Two Basketball

Wednesday night featured a balanced slate of action in the Antigua Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division Two, with Navigators and Cuties Ovals Ojays claiming victories in a doubleheader at JSC.

In the opening contest, Navigators defeated Flyers by a final score of 77-64 after pulling away in the second half of a competitive match-up. The teams battled closely in the first half, with Navigators holding a slim 37-33 advantage at the break.

Ryan Shepherd led the Navigators with a game-high 21 points and added 10 rebounds for a double-double. Baldwin Anthony also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Victor Osbourne contributed 14 points. For the Flyers, Rashaun Harrydelivered an impressive performance despite the loss, recording 26 points and 16 rebounds along with three assists.

In the nightcap, Cuties Ovals Ojays overcame a sluggish first quarter to defeat Old Road Daggers 68-60.

Daggers jumped out to an early lead, outscoring Ovals 21-11 in the opening frame. However, Ovals responded with a dominant 31-8 second quarter to take control of the contest. The teams played evenly in the second half, with Daggers unable to overcome the 13-point halftime deficit.

Jayleyle Joseph powered Ovals with a remarkable all-around performance, recording 15 points, a game-high 21 rebounds, and 8 assists. Tajahron Davis led the team in scoring with 18 points while adding seven rebounds.

For Old Road, Kedar Clarke was the standout performer with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Devea Aaron grabbed 14 rebounds to go with five points, while Craig Thomas dished out a team-high five assists.
