Buckleys 3Js and Survivors continue winning form in new Tournament

Winners of the recently concluded Rudy Matthew/Sherma Jackson T10 League Buckleys 3Js and Survivors continued from where they left off last weekend with wins in the WTP 93.5fm 30 Overs Male Competition and the St John’s Co-operative Credit Union 15-overs Female competition respectively.

At Potters grounds, Buckleys 3Js collected a 70-run victory over 300. Setting an imposing target, 3Js posted 219 for seven from their reduced allocation of 26 overs, powered by Denley Thomas‘ explosive 69 which included seven sixes. He received substantial support from Steve Martin (34), Kemar Christian (29 not out), and Gregson Merrick (23 not out), enabling their team to establish a daunting total.

In response, 300 could only manage 149 for nine from their 26 overs despite contributions from Richard Dyer (39), Kareem Hayward (36), and Jared Roberts (24). Zavier Otto led the 3Js bowling attack with three for 31 from his six overs, well supported by Randino Turner who claimed two for 24 in just two overs. Kennedy Tonge and Zack Thomas were the best bowlers for 300, each claiming three wickets in a losing effort.

At Powells, Strictly Business continued their impressive form this season, overcoming Bullets by four wickets in a reduced 22-over contest. Batting first, Bullets were restricted to 122 for seven, with Essan Warner top-scoring with a six-laden 43 and Morrison Brownecontributing an unbeaten 25. Kerry Mentore was the pick of the Strictly Business bowlers, claiming three for 23 from his six overs.

Strictly Business timed their chase perfectly, reaching 123 for six with an over to spare. Melvin Charles anchored the innings with an unbeaten 48, receiving support from Kim George (23), Owen Graham (15 not out), and Winston Roberts (15). Warner and Shaquan Reifer each claimed two wickets for Bullets, but their efforts proved insufficient to defend the modest total.

At Dredgers, Mix Stars forfeited their match against Dredgers after failing to field the required number of players.

In the women’s competition at Potters, Survivors secured a comfortable seven wicket win over Potters Uprising Cricket Team. Potters Uprising batted first and posted a competitive 83 for two from their 15 overs, with Stacey Telemaque (26), Sharon Mayers (21), and Liza Edwards (19 not out) all making valuable contributions. Menova Govia and Sacha Michael each claimed a wicket for Survivors.

The Survivors’ response was emphatic as they chased down the target with four overs to spare, reaching 88 for 3 in just 11 overs. Grace Persaud led the charge with an unbeaten 35, combining with Leukelle Pelle (20 not out) in a match-winning partnership. Telemaque was the most successful bowler for Potters Uprising, claiming two for 16.

At Dredgers, Rockets defeated Police by 19 runs in a closely contested match. Rockets batted first and posted 100 for seven from their 15 overs, with Denise Parker and Kushana David each scoring 20, while Chemique Jarvis Benjamin added 17. Lilieth Joseph of Police had three for 15.

Police’s chase fell short as they finished on 81 for six, with Kella Thomas (28) and Diana Hector (15) providing the main resistance. Valarie Isaac‘s disciplined bowling (2/8) played a crucial role in restricting the Police batting lineup and securing victory for the Rockets.

At Powells, Bullets forfeited their match against Female Flyers due to insufficient players. Tournament officials noted that this incident is under investigation, with a decision to be announced following review.
