The House of Representatives will reconvene today to debate legislative measures, including the Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which proposes increased licensing fees for motor vehicle owners.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne announced a $100 hike for sedans and compacts, while SUVs, commercial vehicles, and heavy-duty equipment will see a 40% increase. Exemptions apply to taxis, buses, hearses, ambulances, and tractors.
Last week, UPP supporters protested the fee hikes, but Browne stated the public largely supports the increase, citing the need for long-overdue road improvements. He assured transparency, with oversight from ACB Caribbean, ECAB, and the Ministry of Works.
