The Sint Maarten Police Force (KPSM) is investigating what appears to be a deliberate vehicle fire that left a man with severe burns early Sunday morning in Cay Bay.
Emergency services responded around 6:00 am after multiple callers reported a burning vehicle with someone trapped inside. Upon arrival, first responders found a male victim suffering from serious burns to his upper body. Paramedics provided emergency care at the scene before transporting him to St Maarten Medical Centre for further treatment.
Preliminary investigation by detectives and forensic teams suggests the fire was intentionally set by an unknown suspect. Investigators initially faced challenges as the victim was reluctant to cooperate with authorities.
However, police have since developed leads regarding a possible suspect.
