Government revises payment system for Cuban Medical Brigade

Following threats by the Trump Administration to classify the Cuban Medical Brigade as “human trafficking,” Cabinet has decided to pay Cuban doctors and nurses 100% of their contractual amounts directly, rather than through the previous arrangement.

Statutory deductions will be made from each pay package, as is done for all workers in Antigua and Barbuda.

The government has communicated this approach to U.S. officials and awaits their response.
