Kevin Pimentel was instrumental with 20 points as Spanish Heat 2 rallied to a close 55-51 triumph over Phoenix in Division 2 of the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) competition on Monday at the JSC basketball complex.
Contesting the second game of a double-header, Pimentel hit four of six from two-point range and three of 13 from beyond the arc while also grabbing four rebounds. Erwin Rodriguez contributed to the win with 14 points and 12 rebounds while Charlie Danielpicked up 10 points while pulling 17 rebounds. Carlos Suarez contributed on the defensive end of the court with 10 rebounds.
In a losing effort, Tyreke Lewis sank a game-high of 23 points on 11 of 21 shooting while also grabbing seven rebounds. Shalom Bloodman contributed with 10 points and 11 rebounds while Daysher Samuel added eight points and six rebounds to the effort.
In the day’s opening clash, Cristos United enjoyed a six-point win over Da Project, winning 69-63 also at the JSC basketball complex.
Dwayne Samuel was the chief architect for United, hitting 21 points on 10 of 18 shooting off the bench while picking up 14 rebounds. Andrew Simon added 16 points to the winning effort. Manlight Simmons and Thomas Skerrit both contributed with 11 points while Simmons also grabbed 16 rebounds and Skerrit picked up 10. Neville Chambers had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Nathan Matthew was the top scorer for Da Project with 14 points with Gabriel De-Suzaadding 10 points off the bench.
