A 25-year-old teacher from Bartica has been remanded to prison following allegations of inappropriate conduct with a minor student.
Dahlerus Courtman, who resides at Three Miles Potaro Road, appeared before Magistrate Teriq Mohammed at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on February 7, 2025.
Courtman was charged with Sexual Activity with a Child by Abusing a Position of Trust. The charges stem from an investigation that began when he was arrested by officers at the Bartica Police Station on February 5, 2025.
During the court proceedings, the accused was not required to enter a plea.
Magistrate Mohammed ordered Courtman to remain in custody until March 7, 2025, when the case will continue.
The accused, who worked as a teacher in the Bartica area, will remain in custody as legal proceedings continue.
