🚰 Buckleys Water Storage Tank Rehabilitation Progressing Well!
The rehabilitation of the Buckleys Water Storage Tank is moving ahead smoothly, with Minister of Public Utilities, Hon. Melford Nicholas, expressing his satisfaction during a site visit on Tuesday, February 11. This project is a key part of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda’s US$40 million investment aimed at improving water production and distribution across the country.
Once completed, the restored 700,000-gallon tank will significantly enhance water reliability for residents in Buckleys, All Saints, and St. Paul. Additionally, the project aligns with the Government’s broader efforts to strengthen water infrastructure, including upcoming rehabilitation of the 1.2-million-gallon tank at Crabbs and the construction of two new tanks between Friars Hill and Santa Maria, which will add a combined storage capacity of 1.5 million gallons.
According to APUA’s Project Mechanical Engineer, Bryan Nicholas, work on the Buckleys Water Storage Tank is expected to be completed by May. The rehabilitation process involves replacing the steel base, installing corrosion-resistant cathodic concentric rings, backfilling, welding, and applying a specialized coating designed for potable water storage.
The Government remains committed to ensuring a safe, reliable, and sustainable water supply for all citizens. Stay tuned for weekly updates as we track the progress of this critical project! 💧 #WaterSecurity #InfrastructureDevelopment #AntiguaAndBarbuda #BuckleysTankUpdate
