Antigua’s Airport Crews Handle Two Emergency Landings in 12 Hours

Antigua’s airport emergency crews successfully handled two emergency landings within 12 hours, demonstrating their preparedness and expertise.

At 10:57 AM, an Amerijet Boeing 767 carrying over 5,000 pounds of jet fuel made a safe emergency landing after encountering issues. Later, at 10:48 PM, an Air Canada Airbus A319 with 120 passengers landed safely after reporting mechanical problems and conducting a precautionary fuel dump.

Fire Chief and ACP Vivian Parker commended the swift response of emergency teams, including police, fire services, EMS, the ABDF, and the Red Cross. He highlighted the importance of VC Bird International Airport’s longer runway in managing such critical situations.
