Tragic Mid-Air Collision: American Airlines Plane and Black Hawk Helicopter Crash Over Potomac River

Over a dozen bodies have been recovered after a devastating mid-air collision between an American Airlines plane and a Black Hawk helicopter over the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday night as the plane was approaching Ronald Reagan National Airport for landing.

Hundreds of first responders are currently engaged in an extensive search operation across the Potomac River, hoping to locate additional victims and survivors.

The American Airlines flight, operated by PSA Airlines as American Eagle Flight 5342, had departed from Wichita, Kansas, carrying 64 passengers and crew. The Black Hawk helicopter, belonging to the U.S. Army, was conducting a routine training flight with three soldiers on board when the collision took place.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the crash, and investigations are underway. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are leading efforts to piece together the events leading up to the tragic accident.

This disaster marks one of the most significant aviation incidents in the region in recent years. More updates are expected as recovery efforts and investigations continue. #ABSNews
