The national football squad of Antigua and Barbuda is known as the Benna Boys. The athlete’s preparation for upcoming games was discussed by Lenny Hewlett, local head coach of the senior squad, and Fernando Abraham, General Team Manager.
In comparison to prior games, the team’s mental and physical conditioning has greatly improved. They are more calculative on the field, and their confidence in their ability to perform has grown as a result of their continuous training.
“Our long-term strategic plan is a closely guarded secret. The guys are fired up, and they’ve absorbed all of the essential techniques to compete at a top-level,” Hewlett said.
For nearly fifteen years, Abraham has been a football coach; before that, he was a national player for another fifteen years. He currently works as the general manager after more than 30 years as a player and coach.
“I’m like a bridge between the coaches, trainers, managers, and players. Having to manage several divisions on the team has been a fantastic learning experience, because I was previously in their shoes, I can empathize with everyone, ” he explained.
“We’ve all been working extremely hard with mutual understanding, vision, and passion. We have been putting forth our best effort. If we keep to our strategy and objectives, everything should go our way when we return to the pitch,” Abraham ended.
