TUC’s Message to Government : “Erase the line drawn in the sand”

The Antigua and Barbuda Trade Union Congress is greatly disappointed with the latest decision of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda on mandatory Covid-19 vaccination as applied to Public Service employees, Statutory Corporations and companies in which Government has majority shares, effective 1st October, 2021.

The ABTUC reiterates its stance of not being in support of mandatory vaccination and testing as was advanced back in July of 2021.  Outreach through education and information initiatives is believed to be the best way forward.

At this point in time, it is clear that there are and will be vaccinated and unvaccinated persons among us, as well as those who cannot be vaccinated.

Government and the Cabinet are therefore encouraged to revisit its recent Covid-19 position, erase the line drawn in the sand, and seek further meaningful dialogue with relevant stakeholders.
