Russian Sputnik V vaccine has finally rolled out months after receiving local approval

Months after receiving approval for use from the local pharmacy council, the Ministry of Health has finally rolled out the Russian Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine.

As of August 16, the vaccine was available to the public at the Villa Polyclinic Mondays to Fridays from 9 am to 5 pm.

Earlier this year the government received 1,000 doses of the two-shot vaccine which is to be administered three weeks apart.

This now adds to the options of vaccines available to residents as the country seeks to reach herd immunity by inoculating at least 70 per cent of its population.

Meanwhile, anyone interested in pre-registering for the Pfizer vaccine which will be available to all residents including children 12 years and older can do so by calling 780-8299 OR 780-8461.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry says it will continue to administer the AstraZeneca and Sinopharm vaccines at the two vaccination sites; the Multipurpose Cultural Centre and the Villa Polyclinic.
