The Antigua and Barbuda government has updated its travel advisory for individuals coming to the destination.
Several Caribbean countries have implemented measures at their ports of entry for vaccinated persons, with St Kitts and Nevis announcing recently that only fully vaccinated individuals will be allowed into the country.
Here in Antigua and Barbuda, the government stated that fully vaccinated visitors will be required to present a negative PCR test and will undergo another test at the point of entry before being subjected to a 48 hour quarantine period.
Information Minister, Melford Nicholas explains the government decision having received word from the hotel sector.
“We have reverted to a 7 day PCR test on the basis that the hotel sector has indicated to the government that it is going to be extremely problematic for them in terms of persons who want to come to Antigua for a vacation to fit into that window of having a PCR test within 72 hrs so we have reverted to consider that.”
Nicholas also highlighted that persons entering into the local population who are arriving at any port of entry will be given an option.
“If they do not want to be fully quarantined they can take another test and be subject to 48 hr quarantine, as it relates to our guest the use of the secure facility will be continued.”
