Regional leaders agree to write off LIAT debt

At least four regional leaders have agreed to write off about EC $29 million in debt owed to them by LIAT.

Court Appointed Administrator, Cleveland Seaforth says the government of Antigua and Barbuda was the first to do so.

He said leaders in Barbados, Dominica and St Kitts and Nevis are the

remaining countries that agreed to pardon the Antigua-based carrier.

Antiguan and Barbuda will also be responsible for repaying the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).

Similar talks are ongoing with LIAT’s creditors.

The administrator also provided an update on the payment of severance and other obligations to LIAT staff.
