The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda has reiterated that commercial activities will continue as normal during the country’s hosting of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), seeking to reassure residents and business operators amid concerns about possible restrictions.
The police assurance comes as Antigua and Barbuda hosts the major international gathering, which has brought government leaders, officials and international delegates to the country.
Authorities have indicated that there will be no islandwide shutdown of commercial activities, allowing businesses and members of the public to continue their regular operations.
The clarification is important for business owners, employees and residents who may have been concerned about the possible impact of heightened security arrangements and traffic management during the high-profile meeting.
The police have encouraged the public to remain informed through official announcements as the country continues its hosting responsibilities.
