Victory Centre Appeals for Public Assistance After School Garden Is Targeted Again

Victory Centre School for Children with Special Needs has appealed to the public for assistance after an individual was reportedly captured on security footage uprooting lettuce from a hydroponics project established at the institution.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly after 6 a.m. on October 14, just one day after the school celebrated the handover of the agricultural project. The development was particularly disappointing for the school community because the garden represented an opportunity for students to develop practical skills through hands-on agricultural activities.

According to the school, security cameras captured an individual removing lettuce that students had been nurturing but had not yet harvested. The institution also expressed concern about repeated incidents affecting its premises.

The hydroponics initiative was designed to encourage students to participate in growing food and learning about agriculture. Such projects can provide valuable educational experiences, allowing children to develop responsibility, teamwork and an understanding of food production.

The incident has therefore raised concerns beyond the immediate loss of crops. Damage to school property can undermine students’ motivation and discourage community organisations from investing in programmes intended to benefit young people.

Victory Centre has asked members of the public who recognise the individual in the security footage or possess relevant information to contact the nearest police station. The school has also advised people not to confront anyone they believe may be involved.

The institution continues to depend on community support, donations and partnerships to sustain its work. Its appeal highlights the importance of protecting educational facilities and ensuring that students can participate in school activities without fear of repeated interference.
