An Ottos resident who admitted to illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition has been remanded until the end of the month for sentencing.
Twenty-nine-year-old Otis Jackson entered a guilty plea before Senior Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Monday, acknowledging the charges brought against him following his December 11 arrest.
According to police reports, Jackson came to the attention of law enforcement when officers conducting mobile patrols in the Tindale Road area stopped and searched his vehicle at approximately 9 p.m. The search uncovered a 9-millimeter Smith and Wesson pistol and seven rounds of ammunition.
Following the discovery, Jackson was arrested and subsequently charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. Police confiscated the weapon, ammunition, and Jackson’s vehicle, which was transported to Police Headquarters where it remains in storage.
Senior Magistrate Emanuel has scheduled Jackson’s sentencing hearing for December 29, when he will learn his fate on the gun-related charges.
